Outdoor Furniture Plans For Great ResultsWhen summer rolls around, we all want to spend more of our leisure time outdoors. Having comfortable, well placed furniture makes spending time outdoors much more enjoyable. We have decks, patios and front porches to plan furniture placement for. Those lucky enough, have pool side furniture arrangement to think about. Outdoor furniture plans are not that hard to do, but they save a lot of labor in moving furniture around multiple times. Moving scale model furniture around on paper is much easier, than the real pieces. A little pre planning will make your outdoor areas work much better for relaxing and entertaining guests. Outdoor furniture plans will work for existing furniture and for furniture you want to purchase for your outdoor areas. The first step in any furniture arrangement plan is to measure your area and draw it on paper to scale. 1/4th inch to a foot is a common scale. Mark doorways, steps and other important features on your floor plan because they will effect your furniture placement. Make little paper rectangles and circles in 1/4th inch scale to represent each piece of furniture you want to use. Now you can move the furniture around on the plan until you like the placement. Tape the pieces on the plan with two sided tape and carry the plan to the area it represents. This will help you envision the furniture in place in your space. Once you have your plan drawn to scale with all measurements noted, you can take it with you to the outdoor furniture store if you are purchasing new pieces. A good patio furniture store will have trained sales associates to help you with your outdoor furniture plans. It is a good idea to take pictures of your space and existing furniture to take shopping with you so the new and existing furniture will coordinate. Don't forget lighting and accessories like potted plants to enhance your outdoor space. When you are planning your furniture arrangement for outdoor spaces make sure to leave enough room for moving around the space and for children playing games. Have plenty of tables for holding cold drinks, snacks or meals. Plenty of comfortable seating is a must. One large table with benches or chairs for family meals is really nice to have if space permits. Consider privacy from close neighbors. A privacy screen, row of planters with tall plants or even an outdoor curtain or pull down shade can provide privacy without closing the space in. |
